SEE LIKE A CHILD
My two and a half year old grandson, Christopher, came to visit this week with his family. Everything at Nanny's house was new to him since it has been ten months since he last visited and ten months is a long time ago when you're two.
He was fascinated by the flowers in the garden and the sliding screen door leading to it, a door he easily learned to open and close by himself. He discovered that tiny ants could be picked up with his little fingers and carried around indoors and out. Lizards scampering on the wooden deck intrigued and entertained him as they demonstrated their ability to climb on anything in sight. He gently plucked tiny petals from flowers and brought them to me as gifts.
A basket of fresh lemons and limes became a game as Christopher lifted each one out, placed it on the table and tested his mother to see if she could distinguish between the green limes and the yellow lemons.
An Easter egg hunt brought great excitement and delight. Carrying his little basket he eagerly searched all the rooms of the house finding plastic eggs with little treasures inside.
Such fun. Such simple activities. Such a genuine appreciation for nature and its creature and plants.
A two year old loves life, and I think the reason is because he delights in everything life has to offer. He does not take for granted the gifts of the universe.
Have you tried to see the world through the eyes of a child lately?
