Marlene Buckler, MD, FACEP is a doctor in Florida, USA, with fifteen years experience in full-time emergency medicine practice.  She has practiced in both Canada and the United States.

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Psychology, in her late thirties, she embarked on medical school at the ripe old age of forty years, attending Dalhousie University School of Medicine, in her native Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  That journey began after having four children, previous work as a registered nurse (R.N.) in operating rooms and Case Room and an eight-year career as owner/operator of a preschool for 3-5 year-olds.

During her pre-school teacher days she served on the Provincial Coordinating Committee of the Nova Scotia Government Task Force on Day Care as was Vice President of the Preschool Education Association of Nova Scotia.

As a member of the Junior League of Halifax, N.S. she served on the Board of Directors and  was executive editor of "Ahoy, A Magazine for Children".

Dr. Buckler has had many of her short stories, recounting experiences in the emergency room, published in "EM Pulse", the official magazine of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP), the Florida chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).  She is a long-standing member of and fellow in both ACEP and FCEP and sits on a number of committees at the state level.

Dr. Buckler is a member of the Florida Speakers' Association.

She is the proud grandmother of four little darlings.

Her varied background gives Dr. Buckler a wealth of experience from which to draw.  She is equally at home surrounded by children, making life and death decisions in the ER, giving advice to patients and families, counselling the bereaved and working out problems with consultants, hospital administrators, nurses and EMS personel.

Having been a nurse, wife, mother, buisness owner, pre-school teacher, magazine editor, doctor, grandmother and even a patient herself on several occasions, there is hardly a life situation to which she cannot relate.
